A Graceful Exit

A graceful exit poem scene with open door at dusk symbolizing calm departure and emotional closure

I kept my voice within the calm,
The silence understood,
I closed the door like evening light
That leaves the air in good.

The words had settled where they fell,
Between your breath and mine,
I left them resting in their place,
Complete without a sign.

A graceful exit moves like dusk,
Soft settling through the sky,
A tender shift of light and shade,
A truth that passes by.

A graceful exit holds its form,
Unhurried, clear, and whole,
It leaves the room exactly as
It entered—full in soul.

I carried only what was mine,
No weight that asked to stay,
What did not belong to me
Found ease along its way.

A graceful exit does not bend
The shape of what has been,
It lets the moment keep its truth
Unaltered, still, serene.

There comes a point, precise and clear,
Where knowing ripens deep,
Where staying shifts the living truth
The heart was meant to keep.

A graceful exit knows that hour,
It does not rush or plead,
It turns as naturally as breath,
Aligned with inner need.

So I became that quiet step,
That measured, lucid art—
A graceful exit, gently held
Within a steady heart.

And in that grace, I carried on,
Unbroken, light, complete.
A graceful exit left behind
A silence, full and sweet.
