Monsoon Spells

Monsoon Spells in the Western Ghats after rain, with misty emerald hills, wet leaves and a rainbow beneath storm clouds

The monsoon is a splendid time,
It fills my soul with bliss sublime.
I adore the showers, the gales, the mist,
The fragrance of soil, the verdant twist.

The petrichor rises from thirsty earth,
A quiet herald of sweet rebirth.
Swollen streams through the valleys flow,
Giving the hills an emerald glow.

I marvel at the lightning’s glow,
And listen to the thunder’s blow.
I gaze at the rainbow’s vibrant hue,
And cheer up the heavens’ stormy gloom.

The grey skies yield to a silver light,
Where dark clouds shatter in flashes bright.
Peacocks call from the mossy trees,
Waving their fans in the rain-drenched breeze.

I relish the raindrops’ gentle touch,
And drench my body and mind and such.
I frolic and chant and sway all day,
And savor every moment’s ray.

Paper boats drift on the puddles wide,
Carrying dreams on a gentle tide.
Every leaf holds a crystal bead,
A delicate miracle nature freed.

The monsoon is a splendid time,
It inspires me, it ignites my rhyme.
To cherish the earth, to cherish myself,
To cherish magical monsoon spells.
